Maharani goes ‘Amma’ way

The chief minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje is following the footsteps of a late chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalithaa who launched ‘Amma Canteen’ across the state to make food available at affordable rates for poor.

Likewise, CM Vasundhara Raje launched Annapurna Rasoi Yojana at the Jaipur Municipal Corporation on Thursday by flagging off the vans which will sell meals at as cheap as Rs 5 to Rs 8.

Close to the lines of Amma Canteen, three important meals of the day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided at cheaper rates under this yojana. It aims at providing good quality and subsidized meals to the less-privileged.

The breakfast will be provided at Rs 5 while lunch and dinner will be available at Rs 8 for people like rickshaw pullers, auto drivers, security guards, working women, elderly and laborers0. Meanwhile, the provisions of cashless payment through POS machines is also ensured by the BJP government.

The e-wallet option is currently under process. The scheme, in its first phase, will be implemented at 80 places in 12 districts including Jhalrapatan, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Ajmer, Bikaner, Udaipur, Bharatpur, Baran, Banswara, Dungarpur, and Pratapgarh.
